Let's Take Some Pictures

If you've been following me on Instagram, then you might've noticed that I've been posting quite a bit of photos lately. I'm just having fun shooting self-portraits at the moment, using a Google Pixel 3 phone and a Sony RX100III advanced point-and-shoot camera. I don't consider myself a photographer yet, as I've only just started learning to shoot and edit photos. I'm also not ready for a DSLR, even though I could simply borrow one from anyone to practice. Right now, I just want to see what I can do with the small amount of gear I have in my phone and point-and-shoot.

I think that by having these restrictions, it forces me to be more creative. When I think back to when I first started making videos on YouTube, the only camera I had back then was a little knock-off Sony camcorder my dad bought off the streets for $40. Using that crappy camera was the reason why all my videos back then were black & white. In case anyone ever wondered why, it wasn't done for artistic reasons. It was because the colors didn't come out any good on that thing, so I edited the videos the way that I did. The only good thing about that camera was that it had a flip-out screen.

Along with a crappy camera, I was also restricted by having to do all my video editing in Windows Movie Maker. The limitations I had from using that camera and editing program forced me to get really creative. When you have too much gear, but don't know how to use them, it can leave you stuck. Sometimes it's better to just be really good at using only what you have. Eventually, I'm sure I'll want to upgrade to better equipment, but for now, I'll work with what I have and do the best I can.

So if you see ever see me around town, with my Sony RX100III in hand... you'll know what I'm thinking... Let's Take Some Pictures!
